Michael Bertiaux’s Ontological Graffitti coming soon (for real)

In a bold awaking from a short slumber, the infamous publisher Fulgur has completely updated their website. They are, as the expression goes, back with a vengeance, and have announced a (very) long-awaited title:

Michael Bertiaux’s Ontological Graffitti will be published later this year.

A heavy book (in every sense of the word), covering a very important period in the development of Bertiaux’s magical universe, OG will be Fulgur’s most ambitious title published to date. Over 400 pages of lucid text, fully illustrated in full-colour with Bertiaux’s amazing artwork, this title will cover the period between his return from Haiti and his eventual leadership in various occult orders such as the OTOA/LCN and the Monastery of the Seven Rays.

This book gets our highest possible recommendation, both in terms of it’s content, and in Fulgur’s planned presentation.

Black Lotus Kult Amulets

On the day of the Festival of the Ancestors, 1 November 2013, we announce the availability of the Limited Edition

Black Lotus Kult All Saints Amulet.1

The design is based on Hagen von Tulien’s stunning “Black Lotus Kult” artwork. Starting Lent Season this year, each of these pendants were personally charged by Archbishop Michael Bertiaux, and given a blessing by him of “Love, Joy and Prosperity” for the new owner. These were then charged in a “Typhonian Tantric” ritual by Black Lotus Kult, and further blessed in a mass of the Ecclesia Gnostica Spiritualis.

Each of these sterling silver amulets are handmade, one of a kind items. The artist pasted the design onto sheet, drilled and cut them out using non-powered tools, and then stamped with hand punches and worked the piece with files and small tools. To finish, the bail is hard-soldered, and then they were given a hand-polish. It is very labor-intensive compared to letting a computer and machine do it, but worth it in the end as each piece is unique and meant to last beyond a lifetime.

Each amulet comes with a box, bag, “Prayer Card”, BLK Certificate of Authenticity, and two BLK decals.

All of these have been sold or reserved, please send a message to the Black Lotus Kult or BLK Library Facebook page to be placed on a waiting list in the event of an unpurchased reserved piece becomes available.

Cults of the Shadow!

Starfire Publishing has produced many fantastic works over the last quarter century, with a focus on the Typhonian tradition. First published in 1986, Starfire Journal has been the official voice of the Typhonian Order (previously known as the Typhonian Ordo Templi Orientis), and has shed light on many of the ideas brought forth in Kenneth Grant’s writings.

Starfire Journal, Volume I, Issues 1-5

With Beyond the Mauve Zone (1999) and The Ninth Arch (2002), Starfire completed the final volumes of Grant’s Typhonian Trilogies. Starting in 2008, they then began to reprint enhanced editions of the previous out-of-print titles in this series; Outside the Circles of Time (2008), The Magical Revival (2009), and Aleister Crowley and the Hidden God (2013). Now comes the announcement of Cults of the Shadow, due this summer.

Although Grant’s works are all amazing, Cults holds a special place to many as their introductory vehicle into the wondrous world of Michael Bertiaux. This title explores Left Hand Path systems and histories, and looks into their manifestation in the works of Bertiaux, Aleister Crowley, Charles Stanfeld Jones and Austin Osman Spare. As with all Starfire reprints of Grant’s work, this will be an “enhanced” edition, with a new typeset, errata from the previous version within the text and notes taken from Grant’s personal copy included. In addition, these new versions have seen new art, interesting endpapers and, when possible, newly photographed versions of the original art. Many plates which were originally presented in black and white are now in colour. Fulgur Esoterica‘s presentations of Michael Bertiaux’s art speak volumes to the importance of colour in examining his work, and we feel many will be amazed when comparing the plates between new and old versions of Cults.

For more details on this title, head to http://www.starfirepublishing.co.uk/Cults_of_the_Shadow.htm

While on the subject of such things, some were caught sleeping at the pace of Starfire’s republication schedule, and a few of the much sought after deluxe copies of Aleister Crowley and the Hidden God are still available. We have nearly every Starfire deluxe in the BLK Library, and while all are spectacular, this volume really matches the physical object well to the content of the book.

Returning to “normal”

We host a number of occult artists and writers at the BLK Kompound as they come to town for the Seattle Esoteric Book Conference. This kept us busy before and after the event, but it was a joy to have our friends near. The 2012 EBC was an absolute delight to attend, and we will get to work on a review for you to read in time. We now need to make room on the walls for new works by Liv Rainey-Smith and Hagen von Tulien.

Following the EBC, we held our annual Black Lotus Kult Celebration. This year’s party was held in honor of Fulgur Limited’s 20 years of publishing. We are proud to have their books in the BLK Library and we are looking forward to another 20 years from Fulgur!

Shiva Mass

Earlier in the day of the BLK Celebration, before the festivities, we performed a version of the Shiva Mass that we received from Michael Bertiaux. In this picture from later in the evening, Kindle Cimmerian performs a Mass closing ritual.

After the Celebration, we found a VERY secluded retreat for our Autumnal Equinox workings. Now we are back home, and ready to start work again. New music, writings and performances will be coming soon and increasing in frequency in the New Year. We will also be posting more pictures from this, and previous year’s BLK Celebrations.

Vadge Moore vs BLK

In our “Interviews” section, you may now find our discussion with the infamous Vadge Moore (see https://blacklotuskult.com/interviews/vadge). Vadge speaks about his music and writing, as well as Aleister Crowley, Michael Bertiaux, Kenneth Grant, The Dwarves and other things that go bump in the night.
